GoingOn Selected as OnDC Top 100 Private Company By AlwaysOn

October 20, 2009/San Francisco, CA - GoingOn, the leading provider of the market's first open source community platform for education, announced today that it was recognized by AlwaysOn as one of the OnDC Top 100 Private Companies for its technology innovation in the realm of Digital Education.

The OnDC 100 list represents the top 100 private companies contributing to the renewed and continued prosperity of our country. GoingOn was specially selected by the AlwaysOn editorial team and industry experts spanning the globe based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value, and media buzz.

"It's no secret that technology and innovation are vital to bringing our country out of economic recession and transforming important sectors like energy and healthcare," said Tony Perkins, founder and CEO of AlwaysOn. "We congratulate the OnDC 100 for their success in introducing new tools, services and systems to address the nation's top priorities."

The GoingOn Community Platform is the first solution to leverage the concepts and technologies of the social web-networking, real-time collaboration and publishing-with the essentials of traditional content and learning management systems to provide an engaging and participatory environment for harnessing social knowledge at schools and academic institutions. Based on the widely-adopted open source software packages Drupal and Moodle, and delivered onDemand, the GoingOn Community Platform offers a new approach to updating legacy portal and knowledge management infrastructure, allowing universities to easily create interactive online communities.

"We're very excited to be part of the OnDC Top 100," said Jon Corshen, CEO of GoingOn. "Schools and universities today can't afford to miss the opportunity provided by the social web. The adoption and integration of these technologies into existing learning and student management systems can dramatically improve student engagement, increase faculty productivity and enable new models of social learning."

The OnDC 100 winners were selected from among hundreds of other technology companies nominated by investors, bankers, journalists and industry insiders. The AlwaysOn editorial team conducted a rigorous three-month selection process to finalize the 2009 list.

GoingOn and the OnDC Top 100 Companies were honored at AlwaysOn's OnDC event on October 19th-21st at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington DC. This two-and-a-half-day executive event featured CEO presentations and high-level debates on sectors most impacted by the federal government including greentech, on-demand computing and IT security, education and the life sciences.
