At GoingOn, our goal is to provide colleges and universities with the modern tools they need to extend learning & student engagement beyond the confines of "the course," to more broadly encompass the academic life experience.
The GoingOn Academic Engagement Network is not another Learning Management System. It is an academic social network where students and faculty can create and participate in online communities, collaborate using live facebook-like activity streams, and curate their academic network - while keeping it all separate from their personal social networks.
GoingOn Community Builder provides the most efficient way to build rich online collaboration spaces. Using a drag and drop interface and robust library of social components, users easily configure any type of community they need: social classrooms, study groups, faculty collaboratives, program communities and broader communities of practice. Unlike other solutions, GoingOn provides easy cross-community administration, access controls, and content syndication.
The Personal Commons delivers live streams of aggregated content, activities, and events – all in a personalized Facebook-like environment. From their 'commons,' users can join communities, track their connections, and manage activities from across all their communities and channels. No longer will students need to search portals and bulletin boards to discover new resources, learn what people are talking about, or see what's going on across the virtual campus.
GoingOn Campus Channels provide the fastest, easiest way to publish any type of content for distribution to individuals, groups, and communities on the network. Posts are created via a simple web interface, inserted into live activity streams, and routed to a user’s Personal Commons. For example, Student Services could rapidly post a notice about an upcoming guest lecturer, tied to an associated video, and be able to send it directly to all first-year psychology students. GoingOn Channels also provide a powerful tool for integrating information feeds from back-end portals, LMSs or SISs, providing students and faculty an aggregated view of everything going on across their academic life.
The GoingOn Academic Identity & Network capability provides students and faculty with the tools they need to curate their academic identity, portfolio, and connections - while keeping it all separate from their personal social networks. Key features include custom profiles, comment walls, personal messaging, and an integrated portfolio for capturing your content, course work, opinions, and recommendations. The GoingOn platform supports Single Sign-on and SIS integration to ensure users are appropriately authenticated into the network, and to make sure that any inappropriate activities or contributions can be prevented.
Smart Streams provides the foundation for the GoingOn Academic Engagement Network. They enable the most modern models of information sharing and collaboration, using Facebook-like activity streams. With GoingOn, any type of content can be published into the network stream, including videos, blogs, questions, discussions, events, announcements and more. Smart Streams are generated from GO Communities and Channels, and can also be fed from existing portals, learning management and student information systems.
